Lazy, Crazy, Hazy Days of Summer….

Well for some of it’s a lazy, hazy day of summer…mainly my napping cats but for me, its a crazy day of summer! I’m unloading my van from my latest auction! Can’t wait to get to the bottom of all my boxes! I purchased beautiful sets of plates this time around. Here is a gorgeous springtime set of lunch size plates. Perfect for salad or small sandwich.

hmmm I could go for some lunch right now!

Chrissy’s Charmed Cottage Life

Several years ago, I found myself searching for serenity and calmness in my hectic life. I found great comfort in decorating my home with vintage items that had a charming delightful warmth to them. It was this new found lifestyle that lead to my ultimate love of helping others find that same peace and calm within their own life. From that idea, I launched a whimsical, vintage retail shop in the heart of Cape May County New Jersey…..A wonderful place where thousands of people vacation visiting the New Jersey shorelines and the Victorian destination spot Cape May, New Jersey.

Inspired and with tons of energy and passion, I embarked on my retail establishment called “The Cape May Cottage.” My retail clients took easily to my creative flare for finding lovely vintage items such as tole trays, glasses, china, chandeliers, silver plate tea sets and artwork. My retail clients helped make this retail establishment a huge success. Several of my vacationing summer customers that live too far away to visit my charming cottage retail store off season, urged me to offer my products on the Internet so they could purchase my items year round. From that demand , my Ebay site “CapeMayAntiques” was born. Now, not only can I help decorate homes in vintage style locally, but around the world.

I ‘ve enjoyed the pleasure of helping to decorate homes, dinning room tables, gardens and walls in England, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Ireland, Canada and other countries abroad. In order to stay connected to everyone, the idea of a blog came to me as another way to continue to share my charming vintage decorating ideas and products.

So here it is my friends, Chrissy’s Charmed Cottage Life blogs’ maiden voyage. Please sit back, relax, make a cup of warm tea and delight in the thoughts and photos I invite you to share in…..

I just finished taking photos of my vintage wares and antiques for today. I love to create whimsical scenes to stage my delightful vintage products. I want everyone to see how chic and charming these pieces can be when staged in your own home with existing pieces you already own. A great way to create a warm, serene, calming atmosphere is to mix your “new” vintage items with existing items you have already have in your home.

The new vintage items give your place of living a fresh look when mixed and decoratively displayed with existing pieces. Just think of the possibility of placing a charming chic vintage rose designed lamp on a new end table to create a marriage of the old with the new. I am always available to share my decorating ideas and staging thoughts with you. Treat yourself and use your good china, wine goblets, silverware, and mix it up with a pair of vintage silver plate candle sticks and vintage linen napkins with fresh cut flowers in a vase. The possibilities are endless!

Well, I will sign off for now but will return shortly with more lovely photos and ideas on how you can live a charmed cottage life too! Looking forward to sharing future ideas about tole trays, chandeliers, artwork and many other pieces. Thanks so much for reading and please be kind to all animals.

This darling little guy was a stray who showed up about a year ago….his name is Snowball and he loves trying out all of our new vintage furniture pieces that come into the store. He is in charge of Public Relations at our retail shop. Until next time, stay happy, safe and continue to open your mind to vintage decorative decor to mix with your existing pieces to create a soothing, calm charming atmosphere to live in and share with your family and friends!

Kind & Warm Regards,
Chrissy at the Cottage
