Mom and I grabbed the best end of season Fresh Peaches from a local farm market earlier this week and we have been enjoying them so very much! Sweet, juicy, large and plump!  Pretty as a picture so I decided to create my own Still Life of Fruit, Peaches more specifically.

I have an old Windsor chair with all original black patina which plays off beautifully with the peach colored, well peaches! I filled a  vintage wicker basket with handles on each side and a graduated form to hold our plentiful haul from the fresh produce stand! Laid down a pretty white linen napkin first.  Don’t you love the color variations!

Take Your Garden Statues Indoors!

I really dislike the fact that summer is officially over, but it allows me to take my decorating inside again and one of my favorite decorating ideas is to take my garden statues inside to create an enchanting vignette!

This lovely cherub girl adorned with flowers at her feet and holding a small bird bath or feeder in the large flower, was taken into my shop from my overgrown flower garden just yesterday. I want to keep her safe from the fall freeze and she adds a delightful center piece for my fall vignette. I have an antique funeral basket (the tall green basket with silver accents) that I filled with fresh cut hydrangeas from our hydrangea bushes that line the brick walkway to our store. For a soft touch, I added a silk tapestry vintage pillow with the most amazing fall shades! Finally, not complete until an antique book with a dark green cover was added to tie in the relaxation element of the vignette.

Yes, I created this for my vintage store, but you can do the same in your own home! Think about changing up an entrance or foyer table. Even a nice long server or buffet in your dining area would be a great place to house your summer garden accent pieces after a good cleaning and protective pads added to their bottoms so you don’t scratch your good furniture! Gee I sound like my Mom!

Well, I hope I have inspired you to change it up a bit by using garden statues or other garden elements to decorate your home!

Hugs and Happiness,

Chrissy

Otherwise known as GG, short for Gpa, short for Grandpa. My neighbors were giving me weird looks when I could call for Grandpa to come inside for dinner! So, this little guy has been my store cat for 3 years in August. He showed up skinnier then a 2×4 but after his vet check he was only diagnosed with being “cosmetically challenged”. All in all, pretty healthy for an old guy! Here is one shot from his recent photo shoot. gg-upclose-prof-shot

Seriously, he’s too cute! Love ya GG!

We used  Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan in Cream and Old white to paint this previously dark maple outdated dresser. After applying the paint, we distressed it using fine sandpaper and at times not waiting for the paint to dry to achieve a faster result. The piece was finished in clear wax.
