I never, ever ever ever get tired of visiting Lambertville, especially in the winter! For those of you who are not familiar with Lambertville, NJ, it is a wonderful little river town on the banks of the Delaware River in central New Jersey. Directly across from New Hope, PA Bucks county which is famous for it’s artists, European influenced stone structures etc.

20161210_152530

My favorite thing to do while visiting Lambertville is (No, it’s not shopping but that is 2nd in line), strolling the side streets! This is where you find the most amazing houses, Christmas decorations, architecture and gardens!

20161210_152541

I fell in love with the arrangement on this front porch! Filled with evergreens, pinecones, holly or berry branches etc! Love the red door too!

20161211_095307-2

After our chilly walk, we went back to the hotel to warm our toes by the fire! This is the lobby at the Lambertville Station hotel. Gorgeous large fireplace with the most elegantly carved wood mantle! Comfy lounge chairs, good books by the fireside….

20161210_154019-2

A lovely Victorian home located on a side street…..

20161211_122404

Across the river, using a pedestrian walking bridge, we visited New Hope, PA too. This is one of my favorite structures in New Hope all decked out for Christmas. Next time I’ll take more photos…I was enjoying myself so much that I forgot to snap more photos….talk about short attention span! Had a great time, see you soon Lambertville and New Hope!

Serving Irish Coffee has never been so much fun! Bring out this fabulous set of 8 tall coffee mugs and saucers after dinner to create a great conversation and lots of oohs and ahhhs!

18882a-5

So this is vintage Restaurant Ware. Simply meaning, yes, it was used in restaurants. This particular set is signed Loubat, New Orleans LA. Can’t you see this is an elegant French Quarter restaurant or coffee shop!

18882a-20

We couldn’t resist making our own brew and topping it off with whipped cream! A nice biscotti or sugar cookie would fit perfectly on the saucer as well!

18882a-2

Invite your friends, there are plenty of cups and saucers!

Here is a quick Irish Coffee Recipe:

2 Ounces of Bailey’s Irish Cream or any other cream liquor

6 ounces of hot coffee ( we like it strong)

1 ounce of Irish Whiskey

Top with dollop of whip cream. ( as shown, yummy!)

So you have had a long day and it’s finally quitting time! You rush home to enjoy a little relaxation time with your best bud (aka hubby, friend, cat or dog, I’m sure I’m leaving others off the list so my apologies). Treat yourself to a pretty scene!

18885a-6

This is a great vintage glass ice bucket, small scale, thus for 2! It still holds plenty of ice for a happy hour treat and of course can be used for parties etc but in our hectic lives, I like to emphasize you treating “you” nicely!

18885a-10

See. Holds plenty of ice!

18885a-11

Great detailing and lines with a pretty gold metal trim on the rim and for handle. I love to set this up in my bar area with some easily accessible glasses, stirrers etc. So pretty in a silverplate tray or even tole tray. Ready to go when you come home!

This doubles nicely as a fresh flower vase too!

18885a-2

So, I hope I have inspired you to treat yourself to a pretty happy hour instead of one standing up in your kitchen beginning to cook dinner! Relax, take the time to enjoy and unwind!

Thanks for reading,

Prettiest bed ever!  And we did it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®! So sweet and romantic I picked light colors for this full size bed. Cream and Old White

18472a-3

Then we distressed the amazing raised floral carving in the center and added the tiniest bit of dark wax too! This accentuated the carved floral pattern!

18472a-17

This bed was graced with amazing detailing which we took full of advantage of by outlining and highlighting different beveled and mitered edges!  We love her and we miss her too because she went off the Indiana to her new home! Blessings pretty bed!

Take Your Garden Statues Indoors!

I really dislike the fact that summer is officially over, but it allows me to take my decorating inside again and one of my favorite decorating ideas is to take my garden statues inside to create an enchanting vignette!

img_7516c

This lovely cherub girl adorned with flowers at her feet and holding a small bird bath or feeder in the large flower, was taken into my shop from my overgrown flower garden just yesterday. I want to keep her safe from the fall freeze and she adds a delightful center piece for my fall vignette. I have an antique funeral basket (the tall green basket with silver accents) that I filled with fresh cut hydrangeas from our hydrangea bushes that line the brick walkway to our store. For a soft touch, I added a silk tapestry vintage pillow with the most amazing fall shades! Finally, not complete until an antique book with a dark green cover was added to tie in the relaxation element of the vignette.

img_7532c

Yes, I created this for my vintage store, but you can do the same in your own home! Think about changing up an entrance or foyer table. Even a nice long server or buffet in your dining area would be a great place to house your summer garden accent pieces after a good cleaning and protective pads added to their bottoms so you don’t scratch your good furniture! Gee I sound like my Mom!

Well, I hope I have inspired you to change it up a bit by using garden statues or other garden elements to decorate your home!

Hugs and Happiness,

Chrissy

Creative Outdoor Table Lobster Trap & Barn Door

Old Barn Door & Lobster Trap table…..since I am not mechanically inclined, I simply set this old barn door on top of a very heavy lobster trap or cage. All original rusty patina on the cage and the barn door is a small size, probably the top half of a horses stall…easy to assemble and disassemble. IMG_1399b
